Written by Tergonaut Foreword: I have had this project sitting on my computer for over a decade, and even had it written all the way through once, but somehow lost that copy of the story. I've had a lot of time to think about my time in the Mobius Forum, both in real life and in the setting of the Mobius Forum World where Tergonaut first took flight. It's also been a long time since I've had much to do with the Mobius Forum community, which disintegrated a long time ago, although to my knowledge there is still a Facebook group and a few fragmented roleplaying and chat groups still clinging on to existence. I am proud of having been a part of this community, and will always claim it as a part of my Internet heritage; there is still a special place for the MoFo in my heart. The soldier cried out as he fell flat on his face on the cold stone floor. Blood stained his gray military fatigues, then pooled under his prone body as he lay lifeless, a broken doll on the floor in front of Drache Randwulf.
"You couldn't protect them," said the tall, thin gentlemanly figure standing across the hall from Drache, his pale skin and lantern jaw outlined in the near-darkness of the old castle walls. He gestured at the other dead bodies that lay on the floor or propped up against the walls. "Just like you couldn't protect them back then, could you?"
